FLOAT CHARGERS vs. TRICKLE CHARGERS
The charger included with the
POWER BAG JUNIOR™
is a float charger. A float charger is more
sophisticated than plain trickle chargers in that float
chargers sense the
voltage of the battery and shut off when the battery
reaches a predetermined high value. When the float charger
senses a drop in battery voltage below an electronically
set low value it starts charging again. Even though the
output of the
POWER BAG JUNIOR™’s charger is ½ amp, there
is no chance of ever overcharging or overheating the
battery which helps to extend the life of the battery.
The low and high values are set close to each other so
that once completely charged, the battery will
constantly stay "topped off" for the next time it is
needed to power your FS-4/100.
Since float chargers have electronic circuitry that is
more complex, they cost more that simple trickle
chargers. We provide a float charger instead of a
trickle charger so the user can leave the battery
plugged in to the charger indefinitely without any risk
whatsoever of damaging the battery.
